Ashley Shelswell
Registered Pelvic Health Physiotherapist
Ashley Shelswell is a bilingual Registered Physiotherapist who has graduated from the University of Toronto where she received a Master of Science in Physical Therapy. Prior to completing her Masters, Ashley attended Laurentian University and obtained her Bachelors Degree in Physical and Health Education- Health Promotion. She is currently exclusively treating as a Pelvic Health Physiotherapist.
Ashley has found her passion in treating pelvic health concerns for all genders. She has a special interest in women’s health, including pregnancy care, pelvic pain, pelvic organ prolapses, bladder incontinence and other pelvic issues. Ashley also strives to empower and guide women through their pre- and post-natal journey. Through personal experiences of dealing with pelvic health issues and receiving care by a Pelvic Health Physiotherapist, Ashley was inspired to provide the same life changing treatment to others who may be experiencing pelvic health concerns.
Ashley values the importance of patient-centered practice and strives to work as a team with her patient to decrease pain, enhance quality of life and restore function. She focuses on one on one treatment sessions and uses a multimodal approach to her physiotherapy treatment, including pain management, education, manual therapy and individualized exercise prescription.
Ashley has completed post-graduate pelvic health courses through Pelvic Health Solutions and Reframe Rehab. She has also completed numerous post-graduate courses such as manual therapy, pain education and functional rehabilitation. Ashley strives to provide current evidence-based care to her patients.
She is a member in good standing with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario, the Ontario Physiotherapy Association and the Canadian Physiotherapy Association.
